Candida, also known as Candidiasis, moniliasis or thrush, is a fungal infection caused by yeast that belongs to the Candida species (most commonly by C.albicans). These fungi are not very harmful when they reside on the skin, but upon entering the body, they can proliferate rapidly and cause infections in different areas.
